Muzzle Obituary

"And so Death took the second brother for his own"-- The Tale of the Three Brothers, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Muzzle, 2.5, of Orlando, FL passed away yesterday afternoon in my arms due to complications from paralysis. Muzzle is survived by his adopted human family, mother, three sisters, and beloved brother.

When asked to describe Muzzle’s personality, I always said he was my emo rat. I imagined he spent his leisure time writing poetry in the style of Edgar Allan Poe and shopping at Hot Topic. Muzzle was very close to his sisters as a baby and had a difficult transition to frat house living when removed from their company at puberty. Compared to the relentless good cheer of his mother and siblings, Muzzle stood out as the resident Gloomy Gus. However, when I applied a bit of extra effort, time, and cuddles, Muzzle could romp and play with the best of them. His offbeat personality served as a reminder that it is okay to be different from others.

Requiescat in pace.

Thanks. I feel badly for poor Smellow, losing both brothers in two weeks.

Awww, R.I.P, Muzzle. I'm sorry to hear this, it's never easy to lose a furbaby.

Aw so sorry to hear, losing two buddies so close together is rough. I adore the image of an Edgar Allan Rat though :)

Yes, it has been so hard. I love Poe and so did Muzzle when I would read to him. Muzz would love to sit in a tissue box by himself for hours looking as emo as can be. It was sort of sad and funny at the same time. Once I would start petting him, he would start to feel better but he really needed a lot of love to get to that point.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure Muzzle was a good rat who will be missed by all who knew him.

Just thinking about writing an obit for my Gabby (a cat) who passed last week brings me to tears (at work) so I think you are very brave for doing this.

Thanks, I am sorry for your loss as well. It is always a difficult time and I've sniffled a bit at my desk. Muzzle was a good boy who was always unique.

It's always hard to lose a furry family member. My Gabby was put down to reduce suffering because she had cancer. I've just been hugging the others closer.

Cancer is the worst, I'm so sorry :( Yeah, all you can do is remember them and spend more time with those who remain...

Thanks. It feels like he was just a hairless, blind little baby yesterday and he is already gone...

Thanks for all the comments. It has been hard lately losing 4 in a month with one of those being Nosebelle, even though, with them all being the same age, I knew these difficult times would come...
