Keychain of the Day

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I am finally getting around to posting keychains acquired on my trip. I got this one outside the Vatican and I selected it because I loved Mama Wolf suckling Romulus and Remus. I always wondered what the world would be like if Remus had had the opportunity to name the city Reme in his honor instead. I digress.

It was really cool being present at the canonization Mass of St. Teresa of Calcutta. It fulfilled a life long dream and I never ever thought I would be there for such a big name saint! Free prayer cards were handed out which was a nice touch.

And yes, yes, YES! I saw the Pope ride the popemobile about 15 feet away from little old me. It was so amazing but all I found myself thinking at the time was how good his pores looked. I know, the random things you think at big moments of your life. Here was the picture on my camera from when he came around the bend. I missed him giving the thumbs up but am just impressed to have such a good picture of him at all!

It was a really amazing experience that words fail to truly describe.

I think I'd cry if I came that close to His Holiness. And I'm not a Catholic. The man just radiates something that really is otherwordly.

He really does. JP2 will always be The Pope but this guy is pretty special :) It was really incredible and I never expected it to happen but the dates just fell right into place. I missed some of the mass (thanks for not stopping at San Pietro station like you were supposed to, TreinItalia) but the popemobile made up for it and then some!

Thanks. It was pretty neat to find a mythological reference amid all the pope keychains.

I'm glad his pores looked good...plugged papal pores promote papal pimples... It had to be said :) Francis, I think will be the pope for me...I admire his humility.

I like him too but JP2 was the pope from as early as I can remember to grad school and basically was like a Polish earthly version of God so I will always remember him for what he brought to Polish culture around the world, plus being bros with the Dalai Lama never hurts :)

I remember the conclave and election of JP1, and then his very short reign. I was only 10, but remember it clearly. It was huge news...conspiracy theories as I recall. I have no memory of Paul VI.

Cool Pope Francis doesn't need no protective bullet proof plastic box!

I was thinking the same but I'm sure his security peeps weren't as thrilled about the situation as the crowd :P
